League sources told Yahoo Sports that Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro is not expected to play Friday in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Boston Celtics.

The offensive-conflict heat is one loss away from ending, without a sixth Man of the Year in uniform making matters even more problematic in a crucial Game 6 on the road. Hero missed games 4 and 5 with the same injury.

Sources said 22-year-old Herro took part in parts of the shooting on Friday morning, but experienced some discomfort while sliding on the defensive.

The Heat and Hero don’t want to put his health at risk, especially if he takes the court prematurely and suffers a long-term injury that could require off-season surgery.

The 6-foot-5 guard sustained an injury in a Game 3 win in Boston. Miami have lost two straight while attempting to extend the series to Game 7 in Miami on Sunday.

The Hero averages 13.5 points and 4.1 rebounds in the playoffs.

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said he was looking for Kyle Lowry, Max Strauss, Jimmy Butler, P.J.

When will return

Tyler Herro will miss his second straight match in the Eastern Conference finals for the Miami Heat due to a back injury on Saturday in Boston. Meanwhile, Celtics guard Marcus Smart will be back for Game 5 after dealing with an ankle sprain.

The NBA’s sixth Man of the Year, Herro, missed the Heat’s 102-82 loss to the Celtics in Game 4 on Monday in what the team is calling a strained left groin. He suffered an injury during Game 3 and said that on Monday he planned to play in Game 5.

“When we were leaving (Boston) I kind of got the idea that he needed some rest and recovery,” Heat coach Eric Spoelstra said. “These things can be difficult. I know how badly he wants to be out… These decisions have to be made by the training staff and our doctors and we just have to be responsible.”

Herro’s absence virtually guaranteed a spot in the rotation for Victor Oladipo, who was the Heat’s leading scorer in Game 4 with 23 points.

Smart missed Game 4 with a sprained right ankle, which he suffered in the second half of Game 3. Celtics coach Ime Udoka said Smart was still experiencing swelling and soreness in his ankle Wednesday morning, but Smart was a participant in the shootaround – a sign he was going to try playing.

“He’s a guy who can play through some things,” Udoka said of Smart. “We left it up to him.”

Health is becoming a serious concern for the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals, and their other leading scorer, Tyler Herro, is at the forefront of that conversation.

Herro missed Game 4 with a groin injury, and he is one of several Heat players to have been hit this post season. With the Boston Celtics evening in a two-match series on Monday night, the Heat need to bounce back in Miami in Game 5, but they may have to do it without a sixth Man of the Year.

Hero, Jimmy Butler, and Kyle Lowry have all been time lapses in this series. For Heat fans and speculators, the return of Heroes will provide a major boost to Miami’s chances of winning the series. Right now, the WynnBET sportsbook has the Heat as 150 underdogs to win and advance to the NBA Finals.

Injury update

Herro, who did not close out Game 3 with a groin injury, was ruled out of Miami’s Game 4 matchup on Monday night.

The heat guard has struggled a bit this post season, averaging only 13.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game, while shooting 41.3% off the field and 23.2% beyond the arc.

The league’s sixth man of the year, Herro averaged 20.7 points per game in the regular season, so it’s clear he’s a significant part of this Heat offense while healthy.

The Heat are hoping Hero will return for Game 5, and we’ll update this story once more news about his status comes ahead of Wednesday’s matchup.
