Philadelphia’s preseason opener was against the Knicks on October 5. The Sixers’ next scheduled preseason game is October 8 against the Brooklyn Nets.

Wade was available for the October 5 opener and actually started because several Philadelphia starters were rested.

His role could become particularly useful this preseason because Philadelphia has multiple frontcourt players dealing with injuries. Wade even spent time at small-ball center against New York after Ariel Hukporti left the game with an apparent leg injury.

Dean Wade Contract

Dean Wade signed a four-year, $39 million contract with the Philadelphia 76ers in July 2026.

The agreement ended his seven-year run with Cleveland and made Philadelphia his second NBA team. NBA.com reported that the deal became official on July 6.

Wade’s contract reflects the value teams place on versatile forwards who can defend multiple positions and stretch the floor with three-point shooting.

For the 2026-27 season, Wade is listed at approximately $9 million in salary.

Dean Wade Height

Dean Wade is listed at 6 feet 9 inches (2.06 meters) and weighs 228 pounds (103 kg).

He plays primarily at forward but can also operate as a small-ball center. His size, shooting and defensive flexibility have helped him remain in NBA rotations despite relatively modest scoring numbers.

How Old Is Dean Wade?

Dean Wade is 29 years old.

He was born on November 20, 1996, in Wichita, Kansas. He played college basketball at Kansas State before entering the NBA as an undrafted free agent.

Wade joined Cleveland before the 2019-20 season and spent the first seven seasons of his professional career with the Cavaliers.

Dean Wade Wife

Dean Wade keeps his personal life relatively private. Unlike some NBA players, he has not extensively publicized a wife or marriage through major interviews or official NBA profiles.

His NBA biography identifies his parents as Jay and Trish Wade and his older sister as Teresa Wade, but it does not identify a wife.

Therefore, claims about Dean Wade having a wife should be treated carefully unless they are supported by a reliable source. There is currently no well-established public record in his official NBA biography confirming a wife.

Dean Wade College Career

Before reaching the NBA, Wade played four seasons at Kansas State University.

He finished his college career with 1,510 points and 685 rebounds. As a junior, he averaged 16.2 points and 6.2 rebounds, earning first-team All-Big 12 honors.

As a senior in 2018-19, Wade averaged 12.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists and again earned first-team All-Big 12 recognition from the conference coaches.

His college career helped establish him as a skilled forward who could shoot from outside while contributing on the glass.

Dean Wade NBA Career

Wade went undrafted in 2019 but earned an opportunity with Cleveland. He ultimately turned that opportunity into a seven-year NBA career.

With the Cavaliers, he became a useful rotation player because he could defend, rebound and space the floor. His career three-point shooting has been one of his biggest strengths.

He started a career-high 38 games during the 2025-26 season and played all 18 of Cleveland’s playoff games before leaving the organization in free agency.

Now with Philadelphia, Wade joins a significantly reshaped 76ers roster and could compete for consistent frontcourt minutes.

Dean Wade Role With the 76ers

Philadelphia signed Wade primarily for his versatility. He does not need a high volume of shots to contribute.

His ability to guard forwards, knock down three-pointers and play small-ball center gives head coach Nick Nurse another flexible option.

That versatility was already visible in the preseason opener. Wade started against New York and later provided frontcourt depth after Hukporti left the game.

If Wade maintains his shooting efficiency and remains healthy, he could become a dependable rotation piece for Philadelphia during the 2026-27 season.
