Golf’s dominant Texans enter Dallas on Sunday with a chance to close their second win in 2022. Jordan Spieth (-20) sits just one stroke behind the lead in Sunday’s final round. A win on Sunday will give Spieth a springboard into the finals event ahead of the PGA Championship, making him one of golf’s biggest favorites in the second major.

Spieth and Munoz will be the two leaders in the final pairing on Sunday, with Joaquin Nieman, the 23-year-old Chilean looking at a career of his own. The trio will be looking to fend off a bunch of players in the chase, including Justin Thomas, Xander Schöffel and of course, Scotty Schaeffler. Whatever the winner, Sunday will be the last chance for fans to see the players ahead of this year’s PGA Championship, and may offer some clues as to whose game is headed in the right direction in Southern Hills.

The last chance for players to qualify for the 2022 PGA Championship is at TPC Craig Ranch this week as the Byron Nelson Classic plays its final round on Sunday.

Just now, at -21 after 54 holes, Colombia’s Sebastian Munoz takes a one-shot lead over Cole Texan Jordan Spieth. Joaquin Nieman checked in at -19, with James Hahn and former Wanamaker Trophy winner Justin Thomas three shots behind at -18. The only major victory of Thomas’ career will be contested next week at the PGA Championship in Southern Hills in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The total purse this year has grown to $9.1 million, with the standard 18% prize pool going to the winner. With tour waivers until the end of the 2023-24 season and a berth in the Sentry Tournament of Champions in Hawaii next January, the perks abound.

But for those who haven’t previously qualified for Southern Hills starting next Thursday, it’s their last chance to take the field, but all contenders are waived anyway. But the winner will also be waived today for the 2023 Masters, and will receive 500 FedEx Cup points to lock a spot in the playoffs starting in August.

Sebastian Munoz pulled off a course-record 12-under 60 at TPC Craig Ranch on Thursday to take a first-round lead over Byron Nelson.

Munoz broke the previous score of 62 set by Sam Burns last year.

The Colombian’s score matches the lowest round of his PGA Tour career since 60 at the RSM Classic earlier this season.

He is the first player in Tour history to record two rounds of 60 or better in a season.

Munoz took the lead in both the par-5 59th and 12th holes at TPC Craig Ranch for the second year in a row on Thursday. Last time he scored 66.

This season the 29-year-old’s 60s pair has tied him with Tyler McCumber’s score at the RSM Classic for the lowest round ever in the campaign.

Munoz’s score on Thursday also tied the 18-hole Byron Nelson record. Aaron Oberholser (2006) and Keegan Bradley (2013) are the only other two players to have scored 60 points in the event, doing so at Cottonwood Valley Golf Course and TPC Four Seasons respectively.
