Injury

The Seahawks may have been without Bobby Wagner when they played their final game of the season on Sunday, but the good news for the pro-bowl linebacker is that a knee injury doesn’t cripple Seattle’s win over the Lions in Week 17.

“He sprained his knee,” Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said during his weekly appearance at 710 ESPN Seattle on Monday. “He got into an awkward position where he slipped and kind of split, and was being pushed at the same time by an offensive lineman.”

But while the injury looked strange, it was not serious and Wagner would not require surgery.

“He hasn’t suffered any major damage,” Carroll said. “He’s got a knee sprain that he’ll have to recover from, and it’ll be all about the swelling. He has a little swelling; I was with him this morning and he’s in pain and got a little bit, but it’s a serious injury.” No. As we look at things, it’s not a surgery-required type of injury, and it’s going to take a while for that to come back.”

As for Sunday’s finale against the Cardinals, Carroll said it was too early to know if Wagner could play in that game.

“I don’t know, can’t tell you,” said Carroll. “We’ll see how he responds.”
