Payton Pritchard Contract Details

The Boston Celtics agreed to a two-year, $44.2 million contract extension with Pritchard in October 2026. The extension begins with the 2028–29 season and includes a mutual option for 2029–30.

The agreement demonstrates Boston’s confidence in the guard’s continued development. He has become a more prominent contributor after spending his early NBA seasons primarily in a reserve role.

His existing contract runs through the 2027–28 season. The new extension is designed to keep him in Boston beyond that deal, subject to the mutual option in its final season.

Pritchard’s improved production has helped strengthen his position within the organization. His shooting, ball handling and ability to create offense give the Celtics additional flexibility in their backcourt.

Why did the Celtics extend Pritchard?

• Scoring growth: He averaged a career-high 17.0 points per game in 2025–26.

• Playmaking: His 5.2 assists per game demonstrated his ability to help organize the offense.
