Contract
The Steelers have re-signed Offensive Tackles from Zach Banner to a two-year contract, Banner announced on Twitter on Tuesday.
According to a report by Aditi Kinkhabwala of NFL Network, Banner, who was an unrestricted free agent, would earn $9.5 million over the next two seasons, with a signing bonus of $3.25 million.
Banner entered the 2020 season as the Steelers’ opening right tackle, defeating Chukuma Okorafor in a training camp fight for the position when Matt Feeler moved to the left guard.
But his stint as a starter was short, when Banner’s 2020 season was cut short by an ACL injury in the regular season opener against the New York Giants in September.

Zach Gentry (83.6) and Pat Freiermuth (76.5) – There may not be a position group in the team that is playing better than the Steelers’ tight end right now. Freiremuth’s score improved for the fourth game in a row on Sunday and was the best of his rookie season to date. Meanwhile, Gentry posted his second score of over 80 in the last three matches. And it wasn’t just his pass catching that helped. His pass blocking (75.2) and run blocking (71.4) scores were both very solid and meaningful. His 46 offensive snaps against the Browns were double those seen in any other game last season. The PFF would still like to see Freyermuth improve on his run blocking – he has posted just one score better than 60.0 in that category since the season opener. But overall, these guys are on a different level than most of their peers right now — surpassing even Nazi Harris, who has garnered praise in recent weeks for aggressive playmates.
Joe Schobert (79.7) — The former Brown had a rough start with his new team, posting a grade of 58.5 or worse in each of his first three games as a Steeler. He has really started to turn it since Week 4 against Green Bay, however, generating more than 70 grades in three of his four matches. And he posted his best grade of the season against his former teammates, only T.J. Watt and Cameron Hayward in the defensive line on Sunday. He was particularly good at coverage, surrendering just 27 yards on the four occasions where he was targeted. Then, of course, forcing that crucial foul by receiver Jarvis Landry. His coverage score of 75.2 was his best ever on a team that was struggling in that area against the Browns, posting a modest number of 46.5 as a unit. He’s not playing one of the sexier games out there, but he’s quickly becoming one of the more believable guys.
