DeMar Darnell DeRozan (born August 7, 1989) is an American professional basketball player for the Chicago Bulls of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the USC Trojans and was selected ninth overall by the Toronto Raptors in the 2009 NBA Draft. He is a four-time NBA All-Star and a two-time All-NBA team member. He spent nine seasons with the Raptors, including five playoff runs, before being traded to the Spurs in the summer of 2018. DeRozan has played for the United States national team at the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Buzzer beater
The Chicago Bulls were universally banned when they signed DeMar DeRozan to a three-year, $85 million contract on the offseason and Thaddeus Young for the San Antonio Spurs to complete the deal and a protected future. The general view was that Chicago had largely overpaid 32-year-old DeRozan, and his addition did not improve the Bulls much of a play-in team in the Eastern Conference.

DeRozan has been playing like a legitimate MVP candidate through the start of his first season in Chicago. He averages about 27 points per game thanks to his lethal midrange shooting and consistent ability to reach the free throw line. DeRozan has also been a killer in close games throughout the season, leading the NBA in points per game in the fourth quarter.

DeMar DeRozan signed a 3-year / $81,900,000 contract with the Chicago Bulls, which includes $81,900,000 guaranteed and an annual average salary of $27,300,000. In 2021-22, DeRozan will earn a base salary of $26,000,000, with a cap hit of $26,000,000 and a dead cap value of $26,000,000.
College
In November 2007, DeRozan signed a letter of intent to play basketball at USC. He chose USC over the state of Arizona and North Carolina. [6]
In his first game for the Trojans, DeRozan scored a team-high 21 points with seven rebounds in an exhibition game against Azusa Pacific, an 85–64 victory at the Gallen Center. DeRozan had 14 points in his first career regular season game in a win over UC Irvine. [8] He scored 21 points with a career-high 13 rebounds against UCLA in the Pac-10 Tournament semifinals, before scoring a career-high 22 points on 10-for-16 shooting as his team lost 61–49 over Arizona State. It was only the second game-winning buzzer-beater of DeRozan’s career and his first since January 2013. The last Bull to hit the buzzer-beating game-winner was Jimmy Butler in December 2016.
