Balor overcame interference from The Usos and made a dramatic late comeback against the champions. Just when it looked like Balor might have the match – and the title – won, the top rope broke in a strange stunt that allowed Reigns to javelin to retain the title. The finish sucked up the momentum from an otherwise hot pay-per-view, which featured plenty of good championship matches from the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.

Balor came out swiftly and took advantage of the lack of rules and quickly attacked Reigns’ eyes and face. Reigns was quick to exit the ring and grab a kendo stick, but Balor slipped out of the ring and grabbed a bundle of sticks he was wearing in the midsection with multiple shots. A chair was introduced in the match, in which Balor manages to stump the champion in the middle of the run before taking him to ringside and taking him to the steel steps. The brawl went into the crowd, with Reigns, a cancer survivor, wearing a mask, as he continued to assault Balor in the crowd.

The match was outstanding until the ridiculous end, with heart palpitations and music going from corny to downright ridiculous with the top rope broken. It’s a shame because the rest of the match was great. Roman Reigns (c) def. Finn Balor will retain the title. grade B

It’s cheap, but a sensible way to handle things. Lynch doesn’t have his ring leg fully back, but judging by the match, it was fine. Becky Lynch (c) retained her title against Bianca Belair after interference from Sasha Banks. grade B.
