Jey Uso came out with new gear in the form of blue trunks, and I was surprised that Cody Rhodes didn’t actually match them.
Michael Cole actually brought up the history of both Cody Rhodes and Finn Balor being former leaders of Bullet Club and about 13 subredditors blushed.
Jey Uso hit a spear and Michael Cole did his best to say how big a deal this was due to the pending return of Roman Reigns.
Damian Priest sold his leg throughout the match, which may or may not have helped in cashing in the Money in the Bank briefcase later on.
Jey kicked out of everything, even a briefcase shot from Rhea Ripley. Ultimately, Jey Uso and Cody Rhodes hit a modified 1D (with the Cody Cutter) for the win.
A big feud is going to happen between Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso vs. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn until Cody Rhodes is ready to finish his storyline at WrestleMania.
Reaction
One day a friend hit me up and asked about LA Night. It doesn’t get the appeal and places itself firmly in the camp that calls L.A. a clone of the Attitude Era, with more gloss than fact.
I don’t know if this tag match changes his mind or anyone else who feels the same way, but that guy has an “it” factor that very few people have anymore. And this match demonstrated all that. LA stood shoulder to shoulder with one of the most popular wrestlers of all time and everyone came to see him.
John worked the majority of the match and kept the crowd waiting for the man Michael Cole called the hottest Superstar in WWE.
Highlights
Sure, it’s another WWE pay-per-view/PLE without Roman Reigns on the card, but that doesn’t mean WWE Fastlane 2023 doesn’t have a lot to offer to make it worth a watch.
There was major gold on the line as Seth Rollins and Shinsuke Nakamura battled to see who would be the Last Man Standing (and World Heavyweight Champion), while Iyo Sky battled not one but two top tier talents for her WWE Women’s Championship.
