Fantasy

Wander Franco

Franco is tearing it up at Triple-A Durham, and now the game’s top prospect will make his long-awaited debut on Tuesday against the Red Sox. Naturally, Franco has long been spoken of in the Dynasty League, and it’s definitely time to redo him, if he’s still available.

Vander Franco has been informed that he will be called to join the Rage ahead of Tuesday’s game against the Red Sox.

Anyway, Franco is a priority pickup in your fantasy baseball league. Sure, the rays are furious.

The fictional baseball overlord makes fun of me endlessly, doesn’t it? I’m sure Vander Franco was already included in all my leagues, but don’t you like to check in just to get excited?

2021

Wander Franco

Wander Franco, the top prospect in baseball, would start the minor league season in Triple-A.

The Rays are set to announce their minor league roster on Friday, and 20-year-old Franco will join the Triple-A Durham Bulls when they play in Memphis, Tenn., Tuesday night. Franco will begin his season at No. 1 of the MLB Pipeline. Likely two years in a row, Class A Advanced will leave the Double-A level after finishing the 2019 season with Charlotte.

The club has not yet officially announced its minor league roster. The Tampa Bay Times was the first to report Franco’s expected workload.

Franco spent last summer at the Rays’ alternate training venue in Port Charlotte, Fla., before joining their postseason player pool. He first reported to big league camp at Spring Training, saying it was his goal from the start to reach the Majors this season.

Giants

Wander Franco

In his Class-A promotion with the Lexington Legends, Franco’s power began to manifest itself. At age 20, he swapped 30 doubles and ten homers while driving at 74, while posting .268/.310/.403 slashes in 512 plate appearances.

Franco’s first run at High-A in 2016 was a mixed bag overall. While he batted only .220 in 95 games, he also finished with 24 doubles and five homers. Given that he was young for the level (21 years old; 1.5 years younger than the average age of Carolina League players), this was unrelated.

Acquired by the Giants of Weavers from the Royals, Franco was assigned to the San Jose Giants in the High-A California League. As of June 15, he was leading the league in doubles (21), fourth in hits (76), and his slash was .291/.309/.391 (.699 ops) in 62 games.

Call Up 2021

Wander Franco

The club announced on Sunday that the Tampa Bay Rays would soon be calling on top overall prospect Wander Franco to make his MLB debut.

Franco will be added to the active roster in time for a major home series against the Red Sox starting Tuesday. The Rays would start that series with a six-match defeat.

Franco will turn 20 years, 3 months and 21 days on Tuesday, making Rez the second youngest player in history to make his club debut. BJ Upton was 19 years, 11 months and 10 days old when he made his debut in 2004.

Franco is a shortstop who has been the consensus No. 1 prospect in all of baseball coming into the 2020 and 2021 seasons. This season, he is batting .323/.376/.601 in 38 matches with 24 extra base hits.

For his career, he owns a slash line of .333/.400/.538 in 213 minor league games, and has kept those numbers at every stop despite being significantly younger than his peer group.
