Cause of death
Supersport racer Victor Steiman, 22, died on Saturday from injuries sustained in an accident. The motorsports community has mourned his death. During the first race of the FIM Supersport 300 World Championship round at the Portimao track in Portugal, Steiman was involved in a multiple-rider accident at Turn 14.
The seriously injured Steiman was immediately taken by helicopter to the hospital in the nearby town of Faro. Steiman remains in critical condition due to polytrauma and head injury. Despite treatment, he died for several days.

The world superbikes community is devastated by the death of Viktor Steiman, just 22.
Steiman was involved in a horrific accident at the FIM Supersport 300 World Championship Race 1 in Portugal over the weekend.
He was one of several bikers to be involved in the 14-year event at the Autodromo International do Algarve.
Due to the race being red flagged he was taken to Faroe Hospital with serious head injuries, where he later died.
In a statement, his family said: “As the parent of a motorcycle racer you have always been intimidated. Now our Victor could not win this last race.

Victor Steimann (15 June 2000 – 11 October 2022) was a Dutch motorcycle rider. He competed in the Supersport 300 World Championship until his death following an accident at the Portimo 2022 World Superbike Championship [NL] during the 2022 Supersport 300 World Championship.
Legendary rider Viktor Steimann has died at the very young age of 22 following a crash in last weekend’s final race for the season in Portimao.
Motorcycle racing’s governing body, the FIM, also announced on Tuesday evening that the Dutch rider had died of a head injury that occurred in a multiple-rider accident at Turn 14 in Saturday’s opening race at a Portuguese track. .
The race was immediately halted due to the accident, delaying the rest of the day’s schedule and as a result the World Superbike race for that afternoon’s weekend was cut from 20 to 14 laps. Steiman, aboard the MTM Kawasaki, was immediately taken to a medical center and transferred by helicopter to a hospital in the nearby city of Faro, where he died several days after a fatal injury.
