The Utah Jazz are an American professional basketball team based in Salt Lake City. The Jazz compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Western Conference, Northwest Division. Since 1991, the team has played its home games at Vivint Arena. The franchise began play as an expansion team in 1974 as the New Orleans Jazz (as a tribute to New Orleans’ history of originating jazz music). The Jazz moved to Salt Lake City in 1979. The Jazz were one of the least successful teams in the league in their early years. Although 10 seasons elapsed before the Jazz qualified for their first playoff appearance in 1984, they did not miss the playoffs again until 2004. During the late 1980s, John Stockton and Karl Malone arose as the franchise players for the team, and formed one of the most famed point guard–power forward duos in NBA history.

Holly rowe

ESPN reporter Holly Rowe will be moonlighting as an analyst for Utah Jazz television broadcasts this coming season. Before a single game has even been played, though, she has delivered a compelling hot take.

As a guest on the Jazz’s “Roundball Roundup” podcast episode posted Friday, Rowe touched on one of the most infamous moments in the franchise’s history — Michael Jordan’s famed “Flu Game” in Game 5 of the 1997 NBA Finals.

Game tonight

The Utah Jazz were the heavy favorites here for a reason. Three quarters in and their offense has really been able to impose its will, dominating the Oklahoma City Thunder 83-63 three quarters in.

Utah has been riding high on the performance of Rudy Gobert, who has posted a double-double on 19 rebounds and 13 points. One thing to keep an eye out for is Hassan Whiteside’s foul situation as he currently sits at five. Oklahoma City hasn’t had any offensive standouts so far with all players held to 14 points or fewer.
