The former 2021 third-round draft pick appeared in nine games for the 49ers last year, scoring 167 yards and a TD. This year’s third-round draft picks Tyrion Davis-Price and Jordan Mason will serve as RB depths behind Eliza Mitchell and Jeff Wilson.

Injury

The 49ers have been resting their top three linebackers against the Texans, but they now find themselves too thin in position after injuries to linebackers Oren Burks and Curtis Robinson.

Burke’s return with a knee injury is doubtful. Robinson, who has missed time with a groin issue, has been dropped per 49ers.

With both of those players collided and none of the three starters turned favourable, the 49ers are in that spot below Demetrius Flanigan-Falls, Marcelino McCurry-Ball and Segun Olubi.

Status

The sermon was coming off a rough rookie season, but the start of 2022 is even worse. The 49ers were clearly not impressed by the sermon and forgave them despite the vicissitudes they showed in the state of Ohio. He’ll likely land with another team, but if Kyle Shanahan doesn’t like him, you probably won’t either, for fictional purposes. The sermon at this point is not worth taking up a draft.

Number

It may come as a shock to people reading this, but the San Francisco 49ers really love running football.

The Niners have a running back corps of Elijah Mitchell, Ty Davis-Price, Jeff Wilson, Jamie Michael Hesty, Jordan Mason and Trey Cerman.

Not all of these players will make the 53-man roster in 2022, and some will be buried on the depth chart.

Sermon in particular is in danger of that latter prospect, as he is unlikely to be released as a recent third-round selection, but he is also behind the pecking order.
