Will return to mlb
Bauer’s initial record-breaking suspension was reduced to 194 games by a neutral arbitrator in December 2022, meaning he is no longer suspended from MLB. In a statement, MLB said it still believed “a longer suspension was warranted”.
He is free to return to MLB but it remains to be seen if any team would want to sign a player after such public issues. After the settlement with Hill was reached, Bauer released a social media video giving his opinion on the lawsuit.
Concluding the statement he said: “I just like to focus on doing my job; Winning baseball games and entertaining fans around the world. Today I am happy to move forward in my life.”
Allegations
The woman accused Bauer of sexually assaulting her during two encounters in the spring of 2021, leading to the former Cy Young Award winner being placed on administrative leave that July.
Suspension
Former major league pitcher Trevor Bauer and a woman who accused him of beating and sexually assaulting him in 2021 have settled their legal dispute, Bauer’s lawyers said Monday.
“Both of their respective claims are withdrawn today with prejudice,” attorneys John Fetterolf and Shawn Holley said in a statement.
The former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher was placed on administrative leave by MLB in July 2021 following allegations by a woman who said Bauer had assaulted her on two separate occasions during what she said were The sexual encounter had begun with consent.
Bauer, 32, denied the allegation, saying the encounter was consensual.
Prosecutors decided not to file charges in February 2022.
Bauer was suspended by Major League Baseball for an unprecedented 324 games, with the ban reduced to 194 games by an independent arbitrator in December 2022. After Bauer’s suspension ended, the Dodgers waived him and no team selected him. He now plays in Japan.
Bauer sued the woman, and she countersued. Their settlement does not require the exchange of money between the parties.
The woman will receive a separate $300,000 payment from her insurance company, her attorney Jesse Kaplan said in a letter to Bauer’s lawyers. That payment is independent of her agreement with Bauer.
