Martial arts:
While many of the world’s top golfers use martial arts to improve fitness and performance (found in books and articles by Gary Player and Johnny Miller), Tiger had a master warrior as his first model and teacher.
Earl Woods Green Beret martial arts training formed the matrix of capabilities he fused into his swing.
Woods, one of the greatest golfers of all time, spent time training with the elite Navy SEALs in San Diego, not long after the death of his father Earl in 2006.
Sponsors 2022:
He has sponsorship deals with Nike, TaylorMade (opens in new tab), Monster, GOLFTV, Bridgestone, Vantelin Kowa, Hero, Upper Deck, Full Swing Simulators and Centinel Spine.
It’s estimated that more than 90% of Woods’ total earnings come from endorsement and sponsorship deals with major athletic brands, notably Nike, Gatorade (which was worth $100 million split over a five year period) and Gillette, which reportedly earned him $20 million per year.
Ethnicity:
Rather than black, he sees himself as “Cablinasian” — a mix of Caucasian, black, (American) Indian and Asian. Nobody can argue with his precision.
His mother, Kultida, is of Thai, Chinese and Dutch descent. His late father, Earl, said he was African-American, Chinese and Native American.
