What does “A&M” stand for? Agricultural and Mechanical, originally, but today the letters no longer explicitly stand for anything. When Texas A&M was opened on Oct. 4, 1876 as the state’s first public institution of higher education, it was called the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas, or “A&M” for short.
The Aggie Corps is referred to as the “Keepers of the Spirit” and “Guardians of Tradition.” Since 1876, Texas A&M has been a major source of commissioned officers for the U.S. military. The Corps includes distinct units like the Calvary Unit and units that train cadets who dream of becoming a Navy Seal or Army Ranger.

Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher is the latest Nick Saban disciple to line up and attempt to beat his former coach.
