Stephen Curry shined in the clutch, sinking four three-pointers in the final three minutes and ending up with 24 points (8/12 threes). Kevin Durant added 15 points, while LeBron James had another solid performance with 14 points, six rebounds and 10 assists. Team USA shot 58 percent from the three-point line.

The tattoo, located on Curry’s right wrist, is a passage from 1 Corinthians 13:8 in the New Testament which translates to “Love never fails” (his wife got a matching tattoo).

Steph Curry’s late-game heroics and the lightning-fast American transition attack denied France a storybook basketball ending on Saturday night.
The United States capitalized on consecutive French turnovers and missed fast-break points, and Curry scored a team-high 24 points in a 98–87 U.S. victory in the men’s basketball gold medal game.
It was the fifth consecutive Olympic title for the Americans.
Kevin Durant and Devin Booker both scored 15 points and LeBron James added 14 points for the victorious Americans. The devastating American fast-break attack proved to be the difference as the US took a 31–9 lead in transition points.
France closed to within 82–79 at the end of the fourth when Curry took charge and hit four 3-pointers in the final three minutes, leading the US to victory.
Reaction
The United States were heavily favored to win the gold medal at the 2024 Olympics, and they were able to do so with a 98–87 victory over France in the gold medal game.
However, it was not an easy ending. Despite leading by as many as 14 points, Team USA trailed the host nation by just three points with three minutes remaining in the game. It needed a strong finish to edge out the Victor Vembanyama team to extend its Olympic gold medal winning streak to five.
Steph Curry made sure this was his first — and potentially, last — Olympic final.
Curry scored 12 of the United States’ final 16 points to help them win over France. He finished the game with a team-high 24 points by making his last four 3-point shots.
Curry shot just 5-of-20 from 3-point range in Team USA’s first four games, but he was a combined 17-of-27 in the team’s close wins over Serbia and France. He was the driving force behind those wins alongside LeBron James, and received legitimate MVP consideration for the tournament after his sharpshooting performances.
