Kerr obviously wouldn’t be happy to have his star player swing his leg by an opposing player, but Smart didn’t do anything wrong here. He was chasing a loose ball. We love to criticize NBA players for not working hard, and that’s exactly what Smart did here. He immediately went to the floor, and in fact, Curry stepped under him when Smart was already in his dive.

Smart got an ear from Kerr, then he reneged on Wednesday night as the Boston Celtics beat the Warriors 110-88.
“I thought it was a dangerous game. I thought Marcus got into Steph’s knee,” Kerr said. “That’s what bothered me. Huge respect for Marcus, he is one hell of a player, gamer, competitor. I coached him in the World Cup a few summers. We talked after the game, we’re good. I thought it was a dangerous game, just tell him.”
Curry was injured in the second quarter while scrambling for a loose ball with 4:19 remaining in the second quarter as Smart made a diving lunge on the game and landed at the foot of the defending scoring champion. Curry groaned in pain and got up, but kept on walking together before passing out at the next dead ball.
That’s when Smart made another offensive play, receiving a flagrant 1 foul 4:09 before halftime when he leapt and caught his foot on Klay Thompson’s shooting arm.
