Powerlifting at the 2024 Summer Paralympics in Paris, France will take place between 4 and 8 September 2024 at the Porte de la Chapelle Arena. There will be twenty events in total, including ten events for both men and women.
Results
China’s women dominated the first day of powerlifting at the Paris 2024 Paralympics as Guo Lingling improved her world record in the up to 45kg category on Wednesday.
Lingling, 35, set her personal best in the bench press, lifting from 121kg in February to 123kg in Paris, while Britain’s Zoe Newson finished second, 14kg short of her leading effort.
Lingling’s contribution in front of a vocal but half-empty La Chapelle Arena put her country on top of the overall medal table at Paris 2024.
“I am very excited and happy and the atmosphere in the stadium was also very inspiring to me,” Lingling said.
“The Chinese government spends a lot of money training people. So China will always be first in the gold medal table.”
Earlier, compatriot Cui Zhe had achieved the Paralympic record in the up to 41kg category.
