Guardiola has won two Champions League titles as manager of Barcelona.

He won his first Champions League title in his first season in charge of the Barcelona senior team after beating Manchester United 2–0 in the 2008–09 final.

In doing so, he became the youngest person ever to coach a Champions League winning team. In the same season, Barcelona became the first Spanish team to win La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League (known as the Treble) in the same campaign.

Their second Champions League trophy came in the 2011 final, two years after their first. Blaugrana once again came out victorious against Manchester United in the final at Wembley, this time with a 3–1 victory.

When was the last time Pep Guardiola won the Champions League?
Guardiola last won the Champions League with Barcelona in 2010–11.

He has never won the Champions League with a team that was not Barcelona, or with a team that did not include Lionel Messi, and has only reached the final once with a non-Barcelona side.

He reached the final with Manchester City in 2020-21, while the farthest he went with was the semi-finals with Bayern Munich.

Guardiola has spoken about his desire to lift the Champions League trophy with City, half-joking that part of his legacy at the Etihad will be determined by his success in elite European competition.

“Of course, we will be judged not only on the way we play but the titles we win. These are true. It’s as simple as that,” said Guardiola in 2020.

“Last year was extraordinary for us but people say, ‘But you didn’t win the Champions League’. So I’ll be judged, if we don’t win it in our last round here, I’ll fail here. I know that.

“But I enjoy working with my players and my players still win a lot of games. Winning a certain way only helps you win the title and we believe we can play that way. We’ll see eventually.”

Pep Guardiola gave a news update to the Manchester City squad ahead of the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals at Atletico Madrid this afternoon, as Fernandinho confirmed he would leave the club at the end of the season.

City took a 1-0 lead after the first leg, and the return of Ruben Dias on Monday saw an increase in training following a hamstring injury after a six-week absence. It is unlikely that Dias will be set to play against Atletico in Madrid, but Guardiola could give an update on his progress and potential availability for the weekend’s FA Cup semi-final vs Liverpool.
