Langley Design worked with Stepnell on the £5.2 million Paul Kent Hall of Residence for Oxford Brookes University, with extensive updating and renovation of the existing hall ready for new student intake in 2021.

Although Langley Design works across the UK, it is always good for the team to work on local plans. Langley’s bespoke creation was on full display at Paul Kent Hall, featuring a wide array of products designed, manufactured and installed for new arrivals. We provide benches and seats of various sizes constructed from hardwood iroko in the courtyard of the historic Rowan House building, which was originally built in 1876. The various shapes and sizes of seating are beautifully combined with ADP Architecture’s stunning landscape design. A new modern arm rest design was chosen to reflect the updated areas but still provide a traditional feel with the Iroko seating. The project required a ventilation unit to disguise and we were delighted to create a product that not only did this but also offered students seating to enjoy, the ‘Vent’ bench showcases the creativity and problem solving skills we use in our provide to customers. The university also had several separate unsightly bins and outdoor plant areas, so we re-designed some bespoke wooden enclosures, making sure the project still remained aesthetically pleasing, while the overall project was visually appealing. Crucial storage and screening have been offered to match.
