Rumors kareem hunt
The Philadelphia Eagles already struck a deal last week when they acquired Robert Quinn from the Chicago Bears. But there are signs Howie Rosman is still trying to push a roster to start 7-0.
The latest buzz comes from Ralph Vecchiano of Fox Sports. He’s yet another reporter linking the Eagles to the Cleveland Browns running back Karim Hunt.
This rumor comes a few days after Jimmy Kempsky (my BGN Radio co-host) wrote the following for Philivoice:
Going forward, not that “NFL sources” need to confirm explicitly, but Rosman and the Eagles are looking to improve their rosters for the stretch run, according to NFL sources. It is believed that the most likely situation they will address is running behind.
NFL insider Jay Glazer also noted that he could see the Eagles being traded for a running back.
The Eagles’ trade for Hunt likely predates the off-season. There was also a moment during the Eagles’ joint training camp session with the Browns in Berea, Ohio where Hunt was seen talking to Nick Siriani before practice.
Deadline
The NFL’s trading deadline is two days away, and five players have already been dealt with over the past few weeks, including big names like Christian McCaffrey, James Robinson and Robert Quinn.
Other teams believe that Chubb is most likely to trade this group, with the potential return being equal to the first-round pick and more. Denver fielded and heard offers for the Pro Bowl defender, who has 5.5 sacks this season. But sources say the Broncos are unwilling to move Chubb — or Judy and Hammer for that matter — until they get the right offer. A Chubb trade would also be complicated because a new team leaving that type of draft capital would certainly want (and need) to work alongside a contract extension (Chub is currently in the final year of his rookie contract). The Broncos, who lost starting receiver Tim Patrick in training camp to a torn ACL, are counting on Judy and Hamler as they try to get past struggling quarterback Russell Wilson. The talented and athletic Okwegbunam, on the other hand, has been the subject of trade calls since this past spring and has been dormant for the past two weeks. With just seven catches for 50 yards, the price of securing Okuwegbunam won’t be high.
Deadline trade rumors
NFL teams will be asking themselves sometime between now and Tuesday afternoon. In the clubs till 4 pm. ET Tuesday said a potential Super Bowl run this season to either make whatever trades they make to push them to the top or — on the other side of the coin — ship expendable players to help them through the season. Do it. Come.
Already we’ve seen massive blockbusters go down the league, including Christian McCaffrey taking off with the San Francisco 49ers. That deal – which included several picks going back to Carolina – has started paying dividends to the Niners after McCaffrey ran, caught, and touchdowns in Sunday’s win over the Rams.
This is the type of effect teams will be hoping to add to their rosters to give them a stretch boost.
