NBA free agency 2022 officially begins at 6 p.m., when teams can legally begin speaking with free agents. Momentum has been building for days toward a union between Jalen Brunson and the Knicks, being legally the operative word.

The NBA opened with the usual flurry of free agency moves, but many of the market’s top players are still available after day one. And a player who isn’t a free agent at all, everything went haywire.
The free agency moratorium opened at 6 pm on Thursday. ET, the negotiating period during which free agents and teams can begin discussing and agreeing contracts. The deal sets the course for both franchises, with the Hawks going all-out to fight the former, and the Spurs entering a complete rebuild with their eyes on top of the 2023 draft lottery.
The 2022 NBA free agency moratorium will begin at 6 p.m. on Monday, June 30. ET, at which point players and teams can start discussing contracts. The deals may not become official until July 6.
