Known as NBA YoungBoy, Kentrell DeSean Gaulde is an American rapper and musician. He was born in Baton Rouge and grew up in a crowded family, with his three siblings. He was raised by his grandma. When he was a teenager, he was a rebellious young boy, which also found a reflection on his musical tastes and his own compositions.

He started posting videos on YouTube under the name David G, but later on, he chose the name NBA YoungBoy, which means Never Broken Again. When he was 17 years old, he was arrested on suspicion of murder.
