Nathaniel Hackett and his wife Megan share a love of Star Wars and bonded during their early years together. In a 2016 feature for ESPN, Hackett revealed that his wife lived near Skywalker Ranch, the film ranch of filmmaker George Lucas and his workplace in Marin County, California.

Hackett was already a huge fan of the movies, and grew up collecting boxes of Star Wars memorabilia. As The Washington Post reports, references to Star Wars are also included in his playbook as a coach, with the names of characters like Yoda and Skywalker frequently appearing in weekly PowerPoints during the time of the Jaguars.

The details of his contract with the Denver Broncos are still being worked out, so it is currently unknown what the financial aspect will look like.

According to Forbes and Business Insider, Hackett has a net worth of $1.5 million. But this may only be in basic pay and not potential incentives that may have been included in his previous contracts.

It is suspected that he could earn anywhere from $3-5 million per year once he entered the NFL. This is compared to other NFL head coaches who were at similar experience levels.

Syracuse

Nathaniel Hackett, a former Syracuse offensive coordinator, has his first head coaching job. According to multiple media reports, Hackett was appointed their next head coach by the Denver Broncos. Hackett was the offensive coordinator for the Green Bay Packers from 2019 to 2021.

Hackett was instrumental in setting up an up tempo offense at Syracuse just before the start of the 2012 season. This played a large part in Orange’s eight-win season, which came to be known as the Pinstripe Bowl victory over West Virginia. Hackett left Syracuse to join Doug Maron’s staff with the Buffalo Bills and has been in the NFL ever since, including joining Blake Bortles to play at an able level in Jacksonville.

Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars plan to interview Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett for the second time on Thursday. Now they won’t get that chance.

According to multiple reports and first reported by Tom Pelicero of NFL Network, Hackett has accepted an offer to become the next head coach of the Denver Broncos, replacing Vic Fangio and effectively throwing a curveball at the Jaguars. .

To date, the Jaguars have held a second interview with just two candidates: Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberfluss and Buccaneers offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich, widely considered favorites to land the job.

Aaron rodgers

When the Denver Broncos scrutinize Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett for his head-coaching position, they might come across this quote from quarterback Aaron Rodgers:

“The hack has been an important part of our culture change and a part of our success on the offense,” Rodgers said. “I love him. Hope he doesn’t go anywhere. Until I do.”

That was on November 11, 2020.

Earlier, Rodgers had spoken the words “beautiful secret” about his future. This was preceded by Rodgers’ standoff with the Packers during the off-season before the 2021 season.

To say that the Broncos hired Hackett in an attempt to lure Rodgers to Denver would discredit Hackett’s resume. He has eight seasons of experience as an NFL offensive coordinator, including three previous with the Packers and a long history in the West Coast offense. In that role with the Jaguars, he helped lead them to the 2017 AFC Championship Game with Blake Bortles as quarterback. The following year, however, injuries doomed the Jaguars, and after a seventh consecutive defeat, Hackett was fired mid-season. That Hackett was also a candidate for the Jaguars’ head-coaching job this off-season, which explains what upper management thought of him even after then-coach Doug Maron fired him.
