The Colorado Avalanche is headed to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since 2001.

Colorado completed its sweep of the Edmonton Oilers with a dramatic 6-5 overtime win in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals on Monday. Arturi Lehkonen buried the overtime winner, and the Avalanche will now await the winner of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the New York Rangers.

It looked like most games like the Oilers were going to stop the festivities on their home ice.

Leon Dreitel struggled with injuries in a daring and inspiring performance to finish with four assists. Conor McDavid had two goals and one assist, while Zack Hyman scored twice. This should have been enough offense to win, but goalkeeper Mike Smith scored three goals in less than six minutes in the third period and left the winner in overtime.
