Michael Vincent Budenholzer, an American professional basketball coach, was formerly the head coach for the Milwaukee Bucks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Prior to his stint with the Bucks, he served as the head coach of the Atlanta Hawks for five seasons and worked with the San Antonio Spurs for 19 seasons. During his tenure with the Spurs, he initially served as an alternate video coordinator for the first two seasons and subsequently worked as an assistant coach under the guidance of head coach Gregg Popovich. In 2021, Budenholzer led the Bucks to their first NBA championship since 1971.

Budenholzer, who was mentored by Gregg Popovich, is frequently addressed by other coaches, players, and the media as “Bud” or “Coach Bud,” similar to his mentor.
In 1993-94, Budenholzer played professionally for Vejle Basketball Klub in Denmark after completing college. During his time with the team, he led them in scoring with an average of 27.5 points per game, and he also served as the head coach for two youth teams within the club’s system. Death
