New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas was arrested on misdemeanor charges of simple battery and criminal mischief around 7 p.m. Friday, according to Kenner police.

Thomas was cooperative and the case was booked without incident. According to the police, he was released from the lockup at around 10 pm.

Thomas was arrested after an altercation with a man doing construction work on a home being built in his neighborhood. The man said Thomas yelled at him and made verbal threats about parking in front of his house.

According to the man’s statement, Thomas was also upset that the man started recording him during the incident and threw a brick at his windshield, causing “little if any damage.” The man alleged that Thomas said he did not want to be recorded, pushed him and snatched the phone from his hand.

“After you threaten me for the fourth time, people need to know what kind of person you are, because this is wrong. You don’t walk around doing this. I don’t care who you are,'” Luis Cifuentes said about an incident where he accused New Orleans Saints star wide receiver Michael Thomas of throwing two bricks at his truck and pushing him over.

Sifuentes said he has been working for several weeks as a project manager for a house being built near where Thomas lives. He says the problems with the Saints star began two weeks ago when he claims Thomas became upset that construction crews were parking their cars on the street.

College

Thomas played in 11 games as a true freshman in 2012. He had three receptions for 22 yards in the 2012 season. As a sophomore in 2013, Thomas was redshirted.

Thomas entered his redshirt sophomore season in 2014 as a backup, but ultimately took over as a starting wide receiver. He finished the season leading the team in receptions with 54 for 799 yards and nine touchdowns. In the national semifinal against Alabama in the Sugar Bowl, he had seven receptions for 66 yards and a touchdown in the victory.

In the 2015 College Football Playoff National Championship win over Oregon, he had four receptions for 53 yards. In the 2015 season, he had 56 receptions for 781 receiving yards and nine receiving touchdowns. On January 5, 2016, he announced his intention to enter the 2016 NFL Draft.

House

Local NBC affiliate WDSU reported that witnesses saw Thomas being taken away by police in Kenner, then called the station to report a heavy police presence in the subdivision where he lives.

“We are aware of the incident and are gathering information,” a Saints team spokesperson told Saints News Network on Friday night.

According to witnesses in his neighborhood who spoke to WDSU, Thomas called the police after he became frustrated with contractors across the street who were repeatedly parking on the street near his home.
