Newcastle

Matt Lodge is going nowhere after his fall mid-season move to Newcastle this week.

The 26-year-old, in discussions with the Knights about an immediate switch to the Broncos, is understood to have been eager to fork out part of his massive $800,000-per-season salary.

But according to both The Daily Telegraph, Knights with the Newcastle Herald cited the fans’ backlash as the reason.

Warriors

Matt Lodge

Matthew Lodge is a rugby league footballer who plays as a prop for the New Zealand Warriors in the NRL. He previously played for the West Tigers and Brisbane Broncos in the National Rugby League.

Controversial Brisbane Broncos prop Matt Lodge has made the mid-season switch for the Warriors.

He will not play against the Dragons on Friday night, but will enter the Warriors bubble over the weekend and will be available to play against the Sharks on Sunday week.

Lodge’s NRL career was put on hold during the 2016/17 season following a horrific and violent drunken attack in New York City in 2015 before the NRL registered his contract with the Broncos at the start of the 2018 season.

He joined the Warriors as mid-season signings along with Chad Townsend and Dalin Watten-Zelezniak.

Wife

Matt Lodge

Matthew Lodge’s ex-girlfriend has broken her silence and revealed the shocking abuse she allegedly suffered at the hands of the now-Brisbane NRL forward.

Charlene Saliba chose to speak to the Daily Telegraph after watching Lodge’s first and only interview on Fox League since having a registered NRL contract with the Broncos.

She says she felt compelled to speak publicly for the first time to refute Lodge’s claims that he had never assaulted a woman.

Ms Saliba said she had been in a relationship with Lodge for two years since 2013, and claims she was abusive and that she was “living in fear”.

Salary

Matt Lodge

Lodge’s prosperous contract with the Broncos reportedly included clauses allowing him to extend his deal until the end of the 2024 season. According to News Corp., the Broncos will pay up to $1.07 million of Lodge’s salary in the coming years. It remains to be seen whether Pangai will follow him out the door.

The Switch continues the Warriors’ mid-season spending spree, with both Chad Townsend and Dalin Watten-Zelezniak also joining the ranks of the side within the past fortnight.

South Sydney is ready to bring the teen sensation on everyone’s lips… but they won’t let her join their arch-enemy.

And an unwanted Broncos star has a contract clause that means he won’t want to leave Red Hill.
