LaMelo Ball’s 2026-27 team
LaMelo Ball is now a member of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Minnesota acquired Ball from Charlotte during the 2026 offseason. The trade ended his run with the Hornets and placed him in a new backcourt alongside Anthony Edwards.
The move gives Minnesota another dynamic offensive creator. Ball’s passing ability, three-point shooting and size at the point guard position could make him an important part of the Timberwolves’ offense.
Career stats
Entering the 2026-27 season, Ball’s NBA profile remains that of an elite offensive playmaker. NBA.com lists him at 6-foot-7 and 180 pounds, with career experience dating back to his third overall selection in the 2020 NBA Draft.
His listed 2025-26 season averages were 20.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game.
Ball has also earned NBA Rookie of the Year honors and has been selected as an NBA All-Star during his career.
LaMelo Ball recent scoring performances
Before joining Minnesota, Ball finished his Charlotte career with several strong scoring performances during the 2026 play-in tournament.
He scored 30 points with 10 assists and five rebounds against Miami on April 14. Two days later, he scored 23 points against Orlando.
Those performances showed why Minnesota was interested in adding Ball to its backcourt.
What to expect from LaMelo Ball this season
The biggest question entering the 2026-27 season is how Ball will fit alongside Anthony Edwards.
Ball does not necessarily need to dominate the ball every possession. His passing can create open shots for Edwards and Minnesota’s other offensive players, while his shooting range can give the Timberwolves another perimeter threat.
His preseason debut already provided a glimpse of that potential. Ball scored 11 points in only 17 minutes while adding three assists and four rebounds.
If he stays healthy and receives consistent minutes, Ball could become one of the most important offensive pieces in Minnesota’s new-look lineup.
Final update on LaMelo Ball tonight
