Why did transfer

“With that being said, I have decided to enter the transfer portal to explore other opportunities.” McCord, a junior, beat out Devin Brown for the starting QB role in the preseason and started all 12 games this year after spending his first two years as a backup – going 11-1.

High School

McCord grew up in Mount Laurel, New Jersey and attended St. Joseph’s Preparatory School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He received his first college scholarship offer from Central Michigan before the start of his freshman year of high school. As a sophomore, he passed for a school-record 2,883 yards and 35 touchdown passes. McCord passed for 2,399 yards and 31 touchdowns during his junior season before missing the final four games due to injury. He was named Pennsylvania Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior after completing 65 percent of his passes while throwing for 1,582 yards and 21 touchdowns.

The NCAA transfer portal is in full swing, and the Ohio State Buckeyes have been one of the hardest hit teams in the Power 5.

In fact, on Monday morning, the Buckeyes lost possibly the biggest name in the portal, junior quarterback Kyle McCord.

So where might McCord end up? As an accomplished starting quarterback in the Power 5 who led his team to the brink of a Big Ten Championship Game berth, there are plenty of programs that will draft McCord in an effort to lead their offenses.
