Head tattoo:

Longtime UFC lightweight veteran Kevin Lee, who also does work at 170 pounds, recently got a giant tattoo on his head.

Not only will the newly-minted “helmet” remind “The Motown Phenom” that he’s a battle-tested warrior, it will also help elevate his brand in the second half of his MMA career.

Following the release of Kevin Lee, many fans have referenced previous footage of UFC president Dana White hinting that Lee could be let go by the promotion.

Earlier this week, news broke that Kevin Lee had been officially released by the promotion. The former interim lightweight title challenger had been walking the tightrope for quite some time and it appears the UFC was finally ready to let him go, despite the fact that Lee had multiple fights remaining on his contract.

The tattoo is of a samurai helmet that runs from his head to the back of his neck.

Lee believes that the tattoo puts him in a Warrior mode.

“I spent the prime of my life as a warrior. So it just made sense to kind of remind me every day, it’s hard to not finish that extra run.

Lee was suspended for six months by the Nevada State Athletic Commission after testing positive for Adderall — which he said was used to treat adult ADHD — in relation to the fight against Rodriguez.

Lee apologized for his failed test on social media while also revealing battles with sobriety and substance abuse. He is eligible to return to active competition on Feb. 28, 2022.

In September 2019, Lee announced he would be returning to the lightweight division.

Lee faced undefeated prospect Gregor Gillespie on November 2, 2019 at UFC 244. Lee won the fight via knockout in the first round. This win earned him the Performance of the Night award.

It’s true

that Lee (18-7) has since fallen on hard times lately,

losing four of five fights in three years – his lone victory a highlight-reel knockout of Gregor Gillespie at UFC 244 – while bouncing between lightweight and welterweight because of multiple weight misses.
