Veteran wide receiver Julio Jones has a new home, having agreed to a one-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Tuesday.

The seven-time pro bowler has soon turned 45-year-old Tom Brady into another weapon in Tampa, Florida, as Jones looks to rebound from a down season with the Tennessee Titans.

Jones joins a receiver group with the Books that includes holdovers Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Tyler Johnson, Scotty Miller and Breshad Perriman, and welcomes Russell Gage – like Jones, another former Falcon – this off-season. Godwin had off-season surgery on a torn ACL at the end of last season. The Bucs opted not to put him on the PUP list to begin training camp, but a source told ESPN they would be cautious with him before allowing him to practice.

Tampa Bay also brought in veteran Kyle Rudolph last week, a move to shore up their tight end spot in the wake of Rob Gronkowski’s retirement.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are signing veteran wide receiver Julio Jones to a one-year deal, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

A seven-time pro bowler and long-time nemesis of the Bux, Jones worked a great deal during his 10-year stint with division-rivaling Atlanta Falcons, and was one of the NFL’s most influential receivers throughout that period.

Injuries have slowed him in recent years, including his 2021 campaign with the Tennessee Titans. Still, his track record of success brings another proven commodity to an already packed game in Tampa Bay, where Tom Brady will find another superstar pass-catcher.

Injury

Tennessee Titans wide receiver Julio Jones has been placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, NFL Network’s Tom Pelicero reported Saturday.

Jones will no longer play in Tennessee’s next three games against the New Orleans Saints, Houston Texans and New England Patriots.

The 32-year-old also missed the Titans’ Week 8 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts due to a hamstring ailment. It was the third game he missed this season.

Jones first suffered a hamstring problem during Week 3 against the Colts and didn’t return until Week 6 against the Buffalo Bills. In six games this season, he has taken 21 catches for 336 yards, second on the team, with no touchdowns.

Trade

The Falcons traded Jones to the Titans with three years remaining on that deal. When he restructured his deal, he was slated to make a basic salary of $15.3 million in 2021. Jones was set to make a base salary of $11,513,000 for the 2022 season when the Titans named him as a cut after June 1.

Released

The Tennessee Titans released seven-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Julio Jones after a season on Thursday, naming him as a post-June 1 release to make up for much-needed salary cap space.
