On September 10, Jacobs pleaded no contest to both misdemeanor charges.
For the battery charge, a Brown County judge ordered Jacobs to pay a $1,000 fine. On the criminal damage to property charge, Jacobs received a deferred judgment agreement.
Under that agreement, Jacobs must avoid further legal trouble, complete counseling and battery intervention, stay away from the victim and pay restitution. If he meets the conditions during the next year, the criminal damage charge is scheduled to be dismissed.

A major issue surrounding the case is whether evidence from the proceedings will remain sealed.
