Injury

If Jordan Mailata is out, 2019 first-round pick Andre Dillard will have to start. Dillard hasn’t started a game since November 24, 2019, a 17-3 home loss to Seattle where Dillard played just 34 percent of the Birds’ offensive snaps. Moving from Malata to Dillard’s is undoubtedly a downgrade.

It comes on the heels of Sunday’s loss to the 49ers, where the Eagles lost a year to Brandon Graham after he tore his Achilles and Brandon Brooks suffered a pectoral injury, leaving him in good health. Should be put aside for the time being. The Eagles would now be without their three top-tier players, all guys who play in the trenches.

It seems the Eagles should have won against San Francisco, a loss that has been understood by Eagles fans. Losing BG and Brooks is huge and will definitely affect this season in a big way.

The vibes aren’t great for Birds right now. It will take inexperienced players like Dillard, Landon Dickerson and others to step up and make it a game on Monday

Wife

He is currently single. He is not dating anyone. We do not know much about his past relationship and any prior engagements. As per our database, he has no children

Contract

His representation contacted him and told him he had an offer from the Eagles for a new contract.

Friday: Both sides agreed.

Saturday: Malata signs a four-year contract extension that will pay him $64 million, but with a guarantee of $40.85M that could be worth up to $80M. His peers started calling him “Big Money”.

Sunday: Line up for the near term as the starting left tackle – a future that could run with him starting every game in that position until 2025 – in a 32-6 win over the Atlanta Falcons.

Out

The Philadelphia Eagles were already on their way to their “Monday Night Football” showdown, with division rivals the Dallas Cowboys slightly shorthanded. Now, they are even more.

Left tackle Jordan Malata suffered a knee injury during Thursday’s practice, and did not practice on Friday or Saturday, according to the Delaware News Journal. In the team’s final injury report of the week, Philadelphia officially dropped Malata for this Week 3 NFC pre fight.

Philly already lost guard Brandon Brooks to a torn pectoral muscle during the team’s Week 2 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Rookie Landon Dickerson replaced Brooks in the lineup at right guard. With Malata now out, he will likely be replaced by former first-round pick Andre Dillard, who was snubbed in the lineup by Malata in the first place.

The Cowboys will be without defensive ends DeMarcus Lawrence, Dorrance Armstrong, and potentially Bradley Anne on Monday night, while Randy Gregory will return to the lineup after testing positive for COVID-19 last week. Rookie linebacker Micah Parsons acted as an edge rusher against the Chargers last week and will likely do so again with the team shorthanded in position.

Dillard will be primarily tasked with blocking Gregory, who runs to the right of the Cowboys line. He picked up 1.5 sacks against Malata in the team’s Week 16 matchup last season.

Vs Dallas

Malata is out after suffering a knee sprain in Thursday’s practice. That’s bad news. The good news is that he doesn’t need to go into the injured reserve and will certainly miss at least two more games.

Back to the bad news, though: Andre Dillard will start in his place.

On the one hand, Dillard’s debut is pretty worrying. The 2019 first-round pick has really struggled in previous game action and was the team’s worst player in training camp. I mean, he got destroyed twice by the Jets camp body (shouting out Jeremiah Valloaga) in a joint exercise. Dillard didn’t fight as badly against the New York third stringers in the Eagles’ presidential finale. Can’t believe this should be the biggest point of pride.

Dillard, on the other hand, would be running in an unusually favorable position. The Cowboys’ defense isn’t great to start with and their defensive line is exhausted. The Eagles will likely give Dillard extra help to prevent him from being completely exposed.

Australian NFL Draft hopeful Jordan Malata impresses scouts at a pro day in Tampa, Fla., last weekend.

20-year-old Malata of Samoan origin, who plays professional rugby for the South Sydney Rabbitohs, got a chance to show representatives from all 32 teams how he is performing in his conversion to offensive tackle for the NFL. In attendance at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice facility last Saturday were Jason Licht, the general manager of the NFL, of the Buccaneers and Rick Spielman of the Vikings.

Malata measured just shy of 6-foot-8 and weighed in at 346 pounds. His arms measure 35.5 inches. He was clocked 5.12 seconds in the 40-yard dash, which would have been good for seventh among tackle participants at the NFL Combine in February. He excelled in the short shuttle with a time (4.67 seconds) that would have placed him in the top 10. Malata held 22 reps on the bench press.

“I thought today was a good day,” Malata said after finishing her workout. “It was my first time going through positional practice in front of teams and I hope they get a chance to see the progress I’ve made as I try to master the position.”

Malata has been working to improve his game at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., under the watchful eye of coach Aidan Durde, who was responsible for Moritz Boehringer’s meteoric rise in draft in 2016.

Boehringer himself was one of five international-level football players working for the Scouts during the same event in Tampa, including top college players who were not invited to the NFL Combine.
