When will return:

Collins missed the Hawks’ last three games before the break and he will remain out for the first matchup of the second half. He did manage to return to practice Wednesday on a limited basis, so Collins might be able to return by next week. Danilo Gallinari will likely draw another start for Atlanta on Thursday.

NumberFire’s models project Gallo for 26.7 minutes and 22.6 FanDuel points on Thursday. Atlanta Hawks power forward John Collins (back) is doubtful to play on Thursday versus the Chicago Bulls.

When is coming back:

According to Kevin Chouinard on Twitter, Hawks forward John Collins was a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice and is unlikely to play in Thursday’s game at Chicago. Kevin Chouinard on Twitter

Collins missed the last three games before the All-Star break with a strained right foot, and it appears he’ll miss additional time. The young forward has consistently produced for fantasy managers this year when healthy, with 16.8 points and 7.9 rebounds in 31.4 minutes per game.

Once he returns, he will be a viable fantasy starter, but when that return will come remains a mystery. With the Hawks sitting at 28-30 as the 10-seed in the East, the team will surely want him back sooner rather than later for a final playoff push.

Limited participation in practice is a step in the right direction, and while suiting up this Thursday seems unlikely, we could see the Atlanta big man back on the floor sometime next week.

Philadelphia 76ers team executive Daryl Morey warned that the process of finding a solution for Ben Simmons would take a long time. Since then, the team is still trying to figure out a way out of the Simmons situation before the NBA trade deadline on Feb. 10.
