Shortly after taking down their 17th dog, demonstrators dressed in Star Wars costumes stormed the stage and held signs reading “Expose Smithfield’s Death Star,” a clear protest against pork maker Smithfield Foods. Chestnut was not interested in being carried away by his advances. Instead of taking the help of incident security, he handled the situation himself.
Chestnut put the protester in a headlock and immediately tossed it aside before proceeding with the hot dog eating procedures. He eventually killed 63 hot dogs.
