Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff delivered one of his biggest statistical performances of the season in Week 2, throwing for 327 yards and four touchdowns despite Detroit falling 31-27 to the Buffalo Bills.
Goff completed 26 of 38 passes, showing strong production through the air even as the Lions struggled to recover from a slow start on Thursday night.
Jared Goff Puts Up Big Numbers
Goff finished the game with 327 passing yards and four touchdown passes, completing 68.4% of his attempts. The four-touchdown performance was particularly notable because it marked his first game with more than three touchdown passes since Week 2 of the previous season.
His last game with more than three touchdown passes came against the Chicago Bears, when Goff threw for 334 yards and five touchdowns.
Against Buffalo, Goff again demonstrated his ability to generate significant fantasy and passing production when the matchup allows it.
Lions Fall Short Against Buffalo
While Goff produced impressive numbers, the Lions ultimately lost the game 31-27.
Detroit’s offense had difficulty finding the same rhythm it showed during its previous outing. The Lions started slowly on Thursday night and were unable to completely overcome the early deficit.
Goff’s production nevertheless kept Detroit within striking distance and gave the team an opportunity to compete late in the game.
Goff’s Fantasy Football Outlook
Goff’s latest performance also puts his fantasy value back in the spotlight. The Lions quarterback has shown that he can deliver high-end passing numbers, particularly when Detroit’s offense is operating efficiently.
However, his fantasy production can fluctuate. Goff has also recorded games with fewer than 250 passing yards and only one touchdown, making matchup selection an important consideration for fantasy managers.
Unlike quarterbacks who consistently contribute rushing yards or touchdowns, Goff’s fantasy value comes almost entirely through his passing production.
What the 327-Yard Game Means for Jared Goff
The Week 2 performance reinforces Goff’s ability to produce at a high level through the air. His four-touchdown showing against Buffalo was one of the clearest examples of the upside he can provide when Detroit’s passing game is clicking.
For the Lions, though, the priority remains turning strong individual statistics into wins. Goff and Detroit will look to bounce back from the four-point loss as the 2026 NFL season continues.
With another strong passing performance now on his resume, Jared Goff remains a significant player to watch for both the Lions and fantasy football managers in the weeks ahead.
