Suspension

Jameson Williams: Suspension| Suspended| News

In a post on social media, Eric Woodyard from ESPN reported that Williams expressed being ‘disappointed’ over the suspension. Williams was quite clear to Eric Woodyard that he has ‘no option apart from smiling and accepting it’.

‘Clearly, I just want to be back with my brothers and I am ready to do so as soon as possible,’ Williams went on to say.

So far, the Lions have not spoken in relation to the suspension which is said to have been enforced.

Jimmy Garoppolo, the quarterback for the Los Angeles team, was also handed a two-game ban to be served during first two games of the 2024 season. This suspension is the result of violation of ‘therapeutic use exemption’ policy by Garoppolo. This was due to him not submitting the appropriate forms for a banned substance under NFL regulations. There was no appeal filed by Garoppolo.

Suspended

Dan Campbell stated on Tuesday morning that he is gearing up for the possibility of Jameson Williams being absent for a few games.

This is on the assumption that the wide receiver of the Detroit Lions will likely be banned for two games following his breach of the league performance enhancing policy rules.

“There’s not much I can say about it. I am waiting for the league to implement its judgement. I’m absent of the need to discuss it with the media. I can only tell you that we are ready for his absence,” Campbell mentioned while speaking to local radio.

Williams would not be new to this type of situation – last season, he was suspended for six games for breaching the prohibition on betting set by the league.

But Campbell is sure that his Lions, who are on fire in attack, will cope without problems.

“And we’ll be alright, that’s why we have Kalif Raymond, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Sam LaPorta, T.P, Allen Robinson, who are other things apart from David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs. We are okay. We will move on. This thing comes down, if it does, when it comes down, we will be alright.”

News

ESPN’s Eric Woodyard, citing sources, reports that he’s been suspended due to violations of the NFL policy on performance-enhancing substances for the next two games, Jameson Williams will miss the Detroit Lions for the two next matches.

Thus, it follows that Williams will miss the home match against the Tennessee Titans (October 27) and the away match against the division competitor Green Bay Packers (November 3).

This marks the second instance in which Williams has been sanctioned during his professional career. The fleet-footed pass catcher was served a four-game ban for placing a bet on games outside the NFL which was later reduced from six games. He said then that he had no idea what he placed a wager on and when he did so.
