Jalen Armand Rigor (born January 2, 1999) is an American football wide receiver for the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League (NFL). He was selected out of TCU by the Philadelphia Eagles in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Scouting report

The Eagles drafted Jalen Rigor with the 21st pick in the 2020 draft, making him the fourth receiver out of 35 two years ago.

It hasn’t gone well.

Of the 124 wide receivers drawn in any round since 1970 who have started at least 24 games in their first two seasons, Rigor’s 695 yards is 117th.

Now, maybe Reagore takes flight in Year 3. If he’s even here. Strange things have happened. I can’t think of any but they probably have. But so far, the reorg has been a major disappointment.

It’s interesting to see what scouts said ahead of the draft in April of 2020 because while they didn’t all see Reagor as a slam-dunk 1-round pick, scouts’ pre-draft evaluations were much more positive than you might think . ,

I included the name of the analyst when listed. Most of these blurbs have been edited for space, but I tried to accurately capture the author’s general impressions of the reorg. This is not to embarrass anyone. All these writers obviously studied a lot of movies and did their homework. But sometimes you don’t even know.

When was drafted

Rigor was selected 21st overall in the 2020 NFL Draft, one place before Vikings superstar receiver Justin Jefferson landed. Famously, Rick Spielman and Mike Zimmer’s old reign of the Vikings chose Rigor after laughing at the Eagles, causing Jefferson to fall for them. Now both are teammates.

Relative to expectations, Reagore’s NFL career has had a slow start. Over the course of two seasons, he has caught 64 of 11 goals for 695 yards and three touchdowns. Rigor has struggled with occasional drops and hasn’t been able to create a consistent separation.

Still, he is just 23 years old. It is a fresh start that will allow him to work with Vikings receivers coach Keenan McCardell to improve as a player in a position with low expectations.
