Israel Mobolaji Odunayo Oluwafemi Temitayo Ovolabi Adesanya (born 22 July 1989) is a Nigerian-New Zealander professional mixed martial artist, kickboxer, and former boxer with multiple championships in all three disciplines. As a mixed martial artist, he currently competes in the middleweight division in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he is the current UFC Middleweight Champion. Next fight

Israel Adesanya is set to face Alex Pereira at UFC 281 next month, with Pereira having previously beaten the New Zealander twice in professional kickboxing. However, this may very rarely count in MMA. Brazilian sport has fewer professional rounds than Adesanya.

Pereira has fought only 13 professional rounds since transitioning to MMA in 2015.

To put Brazil’s lack of experience in perspective, Adesanya has fought a total of 15 rounds in his last three appearances in the UFC. ‘Poatan’ currently holds a 6-1 record in professional MMA, and most recently in UFC 276: Adesanya vs. Defeats Sean Strickland in the first round at Cannonier.

Press conference

The bus driving Israel Adesanya to the UFC 281 press conference ran into a minor vehicle accident.

The incident was first reported by AGFight. According to a Brazilian news outlet, the bus hit a fire hydrant on its way to the presser at Madison Square Garden. UFC Featherweight Champion Alexander Volkanovsky was reported to be on the bus with Adasanya.
Thankfully no one was hurt in the accident. However, this delayed Wednesday’s press conference as Adesanya arrived late for the event.

Adesanya will headline Saturday’s UFC 281 pay-per-view event. He will take on Alex Pereira, with whom he shares a history from his professional kickboxing days.

The fighters first met in 2016 when Pereira sidelined Adesanía in a close decision. The following year, rivals made it back to Brazil in a bout in which Pereira handed Adesanya his first and only knockout defeat in combat games.

Israel Adesanya claims he is excited to fight Alex Pereira
Israel Adesanya claimed that his upcoming title match against Alex Pereira will be the most important fight of his career. During the UFC 281 pre-fight press conference, ‘The Last Stylebender’ reiterated that he is looking forward to the matchup:

“I’ve admitted that he’s not like the other guys I’ve fought with lately. Once he realizes me, he won’t try to shy away. So I scream at Brad Tavares until the fifth round Huh, he was still leaving. I believe he’s not going to be shy, he’s going to come here and try to fight, which you know what I like. I like a guy who Likes to fight because I like to fight.
But if Pereira is to be believed, Adesanya will only be forced to put up a fight by the UFC. Appearing in an interview with MMA Fighting’s Portuguese-language podcast Troccao Franca, Pereira claimed that Adesanya initially wanted no part of the matchup
