Boston Celtics star Isaiah Thomas’ sister died in a car accident Saturday morning, according to Washington State Police.

Chyna Thomas died at the crash site on Interstate 5 in Federal Way, Washington, police said. She was 22 years old.

A source told ESPN’s Jeff Goodman that Isaiah Thomas received news of his sister’s accident after attending Celtics practice in the afternoon.

Thomas was talking to a reporter after practice when Avery Bradley, a Tacoma teammate, came out of the trainer’s room and pulled him over. Thomas never returned to attend to other scheduled media requests.

The Charlotte Hornets, President of Basketball Operations General Manager Mitch Kupchak, announced today that the team has signed guard Isaiah Thomas to a 10-day contract. Per team policy, the terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Thomas signed 10-day contracts with the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks earlier this season, appearing in five games in his 11th season in the NBA and averaging 8.6 points and 2.0 22.9 minutes per game. He also appeared in four games for the Grand Rapids Gold of the NBA G League, averaging 41.8 points and 6.5 assists per competition. Thomas scored 46 points at Greensboro on 26 February, the most points in a game in the G League at the time, as well as 45 against the Windy City Bulls on 23 February.
