George William Russell is a British racing driver currently competing in Formula One for Mercedes. He was the 2018 FIA Formula 2 Champion for ART and the 2017 GP3 Series Champion.

George Russell took his first podium for Mercedes and second in the drivers’ standings with a P3 finish in the Australian Grand Prix – the Briton later admitting that he was surprised to be in that position, given his team’s deficit to Red Bull and Ferrari.

Podiums:

In the seven years that he raced F1 (2007-2014), he competed in 128 races. He also never made it up the podium, and like Nico, his best race placing was fourth.

Born in 1983, Sutil spent most of his career with the lower ranking racing teams.

Lando Norris got the first F1 podium of his career back in 2020 during the Austrian Grand Prix where he managed to finish P3 behind Charles Leclerc and Valtteri Bottas. After that podium, the wait was long for Lando as he got his second podium during the Monaco Grand Prix of the 2021 F1 season.

George Russell has warned Mercedes were ‘hurt’ by battling with Red Bull during parts of the Spanish Grand Prix. 

The Mercedes rookie enjoyed an intense battle with Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez but was unable to hold onto the Red Bull’s pace.

Russell’s podium comes after an impressive uptick of pace for Mercedes at the Spanish Grand Prix.
