Manchester United claimed a vital win to ease the pressure on Eric ten Hag as Bruno Fernandes scored in stoppage time to earn a 1-0 win at Fulham.

After consecutive 3-0 defeats against Manchester City and Newcastle, questions were increasingly being asked of the manager and eyebrows were raised before kick-off when Marcus Rashford was left out of the team.

Man Utd reported that the forward – who was criticized by Ten Hag for going out to celebrate his birthday after Friday’s defeat to City – was injured.

Man of the match

Bruno Fernandes produced a brilliant team display from the captain’s goal as Manchester United responded with late play to beat Fulham in the Premier League for the second consecutive campaign.

Just when it looked like Eric ten Hag’s side would go into the draw for the first time since April, Fernandes came forward to punish some lackluster defending from the hosts and fired a low shot towards goal which had enough velocity to deflect it. Could be pushed only in the lower part. The corner of his net is deflected by Cottagers goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

In injury time at the end of a lively second half, Bruno’s strike – on the occasion of his 200th United appearance – proved decisive and who knows, it may yet prove decisive as the Reds look to turn things around now. Till has been a troublesome word.
