Weddle was let go by Baltimore after the third year of his four-year deal, and signed with the Los Angeles Rams, where he played out the 2019 season…

Weddle is known for his high football IQ and ability to read plays before they happen, so his veteran leadership will be welcome in Los Angeles.

Weddle moved back to free safety after the Baltimore Ravens signed free agent strong safety Tony Jefferson. Weddle and Jefferson were officially named the starters to begin the season.

In Week 4, Weddle recorded a season-high eight combined tackles, two pass deflections, and an interception in the Ravens’ 26–9 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

On December 3, 2017, Weddle made three combined tackles, a pass deflection, recorded a strip/sack, and returned an interception for a touchdown during a 44–20 victory against the Detroit Lions in Week 13.

Hall of Fame:

Seemingly every good player ends up being the subject of this debate when he retires, and Weddle is certainly no different. Given what we know about the players already in the Hall of Fame, we can take a close look at Weddle’s career to see how it compares to legends of the sport.

In this case, I took a look at the per-game stats of five other safeties that recently got inducted into the Hall of Fame — Steve Atwater, Brian Dawkins, Kenny Easley, Cliff Harris and Troy Polamalu.

Unretire:

Weddle’s return to the Rams was announced by his agent, David Canter, on Wednesday. The Rams later announced that they had signed Weddle to their practice squad.

Fuller, the Rams’ defensive signal-caller, suffered an ankle injury that will require season-ending surgery in Los Angeles’ overtime loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Fuller was placed on injured reserve Wednesday.
