There’s no shortage of praise when it comes to Drummond Green’s NBA career, and Warriors coach Steve Kerr is certain that the team’s longtime leader will eventually garner one of basketball’s highest honors.
Following Green’s dominant playoff performance in Golden State’s Game 1 win over the Denver Nuggets at the Chase Center on Saturday, Kerr told reporters after the game what he believed for a while: Greene is a Hall of Famer.
“Draymonds is a Hall of Famer,” Kerr said. “…he’s one of the best players in the league, so tonight he showed why.”
Green has expressed his desire to be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in the past, and he tweeted a simple gesture of gratitude to his coach early Sunday after seeing Kerr’s comments online.

In honor of the 75 years of NBA basketball, the league on Thursday announced its list of the top 75 players in league history (76, in fact, due to a tie). And while the Golden State Warriors were well represented on the list, two of their current stars were absent from it: Klay Thompson and Drummond Green.
It is very difficult that Thompson and Green had not been named two of the 75 best players out of a pool of over 6,000. There are a lot of really good players on the list (76, to be specific!), and more importantly, there are a lot of good players away from it (most notably Dwight Howard, Tracy McGrady, Pau Gasol, and Nikola Jokic). .
Still, you can make a pretty strong case for Greene (three-time champion, three-time All-Star, two-time All-NBA, six-time All-Defense, one-time Defensive Player of the Year) and Thompson. Huh. And I’m sure a lot of people believe that Green and Thompson should have made the list of some active players, like Damien Lillard and Anthony Davis.
