The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Detroit Tigers 2-1 on Friday, Aug. 28, at Comerica Park in a game dominated by the emotional return of former Tigers ace Tarik Skubal.
Skubal, who was traded from Detroit to Los Angeles earlier this month, made his first appearance at Comerica Park as a visiting player. Despite the difficult circumstances, the two-time American League Cy Young Award winner delivered an outstanding performance, allowing only one run over six innings while striking out seven and walking none.
The Dodgers ultimately secured the victory with a late offensive push, as Freddie Freeman delivered the decisive RBI single in the eighth inning.

After striking out against Skubal earlier in the game, the 21-year-old outfielder got another opportunity in the fifth inning.
Clark attacked a 99-mph fastball and drove it down the third-base line for an RBI triple. Valencia scored easily, and Clark raced all the way to third as Detroit took a 1-0 advantage.
It was an impressive moment for one of the Tigers’ most promising young players against one of baseball’s premier pitchers.
