Newcastle are considering pulling the plug on talks to sign top defensive target Diego Carlos because of a lack of progress in club-to-club talks with Sevilla and mixed messages received from the Spanish side, Express Sport understands. The Magpies are understood to have placed two bids for the Brazilian – worth in the region of £25million and £30m – but Sevilla are adamant that their offer to Newcastle is almost certain before the player’s £67m is likely to make significant progress.
