Deshaun Watson: Browns trade| Verdict| Highlights

There are multiple reports saying that the Cleveland Browns are one of the teams that has expressed interest in Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson and is overseeing his legal proceedings. A grand jury on Friday declined to indict Watson on charges of harassment and sexual misconduct involving 22 women.

Watson is still facing 22 civil cases alleging sexual assault and misconduct. However, with the criminal element currently out of the way, teams are positioning themselves to potentially trade for a Texan quarterback.

Other teams mentioned include the Seattle Seahawks, Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints, and even the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. As it turns out, the Buccaneers are also looking at Brown quarterback Baker Mayfield and a shoulder injury he’s currently rehabbing, according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times.

Bucks head coach Bruce Arian is one of many NFL legends who thought highly of Mayfield coming out of college. With Tom Brady retiring, even if the team hopes to reconsider, Mayfield could provide them with a way to fight for the NFC South Division in 2022.

All of these teams are researching Watson’s situation, some even hiring private investigators to keep an eye on everything going on with their legal positions.

This story has been updated to reflect the grand jury’s decision on Watson’s criminal charges.

About a year ago, Ashley Solis filed the first civil lawsuit against Texas quarterback Deshaun Watson.

Her account detailed that it was “obvious that Watson only wanted the massage for one reason—sex,” describing how in one session she “purposefully touched the plaintiff’s hand” with the tip of her penis. As news of the trial spread across the country, another case surfaced on the Harris County District Clerk’s website later the next day. Then another.

Watson has faced 23 civil cases at some point. Multiple judges ruled that the plaintiffs’ names had to be disclosed and that a lawsuit was dropped “for now,” according to court documents, “in light of privacy and security concerns.” Solis initially filed her suit as “Jane Doe,” but in anticipation of a ruling that her name should be disclosed, she revealed her identity at a press conference last April. That day, she said she “survived assault and harassment” and that Watson “is my aggressor and my harasser.”

Watson reportedly faced 10 criminal complaints, and the Harris County prosecutor presented his case before a grand jury on March 11. The jury returned nine “no” bills on nine criminal complaints against the Texans quarterback. The prosecutor announced that he would not be charged.

Watson, 26, still faces 22 active civil lawsuits, each describing graphic incidents of sexual assault and sexual assault. All plaintiffs are represented by Houston-based attorney Tony Buzby.

Clemson is going with a dual-quarterback system to start 2014, but new signal-caller Deshan Watson may have a position of his own after a six-touchdown performance against the University of North Carolina.

Here are Watson’s final figures from his memorable night at Memorial Stadium:

Clemson came out with a 50-35 victory, and Cole Staud—who had been sharing photos with Watson—had little to do with it, completing just one of his three passes for a yard in the evening. .

Indeed, it was a record-breaking performance for Death Valley’s new favorite quarterback, per Sports Illustrated:

His very first pass of the game set the tone for all who came. ACC Football offers wide receiver Germon Hopper a look at the 74-yard bomb:

Hopper found himself on the receiving end of a 50-yard touchdown pass from Watson in the second quarter, quickly establishing the new quarterback’s ability to throw the ball downfield with accuracy.

Watson caught Mike Williams wide out to two points in the third quarter, the first of which set a Clemson record, according to the ESPN ACC:

Deshan is Watson’s fourth passing TD. He was the first Clemson Tiger freshman to throw for three.

Despite Watson’s heroics, Clemson leads the season 2–2, although both of these losses have come against top-tier opponents at Florida State and Georgia. They have a chance of the ACC title, but will need to drop some of the other conference titles while they remain perfect along the way.

That would be difficult to do with a new player, especially one who took four games a season to really establish himself. Still, the program’s long-term future is bright with young Watson calling the shots.
