I grew up in the 80’s. So, when I think of the Denver Broncos, I still go back to the big D logo on the helmet with the Bronco in the middle.

I’m a sucker for nostalgia and when it comes to sports, I love the drawbacks to most teams, especially the Broncos. I think John Elway is doing his thing and making all those historic comebacks with “3 Amigos” with Carl Mecklenburg, Tom Jackson, Dennis Smith, Mike Harden and company on defense to knock people around And coach Dan Reeves is walking over the edge in a sharp outfit.

Wearing these uniforms from the 1968 to 1996 season, the Broncos’ record was 251–194–7. The franchise had many successes and memorable moments with these uniforms, but they could not complete the deal on a 0–4 Super Bowl victory in the big game.

For a while, this NFL’s off-season quarterback carousel barely went through. Tom Brady retired. So did Ben Roethlisberger. And despite a much-analyzed Instagram post from Aaron Rodgers that could have doubled as a retirement statement, back-to-back MVPs have been kept at Green Bay. It comes after weeks of speculation that Rodgers may be heading to the much-needed quarterback-need Denver Broncos. Much to the dismay of Broncos fans and players, Rodgers took the sensible route on Tuesday and stayed in the city where he found nothing but success. And his favorite partner is sticking around too.

So all seemed pleasantly boring on the quarterback front until Rodgers confirmed he was living in Wisconsin. And then Seattle dropped a boom louder than any boom produced by its storied security in the mid-2010s. The Seahawks traded two first-round picks, two second-round picks, fifth-round picks, plus quarterback Drew Locke, tight end Noah Feint, and defensive lineman Shelby Harris, for Russell Wilson and the Broncos. Guys, that’s what we call blockbusters.

There is a lot to dissect about the business. Will Wilson follow in Peyton Manning and Brady’s footsteps and win a Super Bowl ring with another franchise? Who Will Be Seattle’s Starting Quarterback? Because of course it can’t be locked even for a season. Will they use their newly acquired ninth overall pick on quarterback or trade away draft picks for the rights to Deshan Watson? Watson is clearly the biggest quarterback talent for a new team, but he’s also run into serious legal troubles. Grading a trade of this magnitude is a fun exercise, but in this case, highly irrelevant given the number of drafts involved. Just because Seattle has a history of mostly whispers in the recent draft (see: first-rounders LJ Collier, Rashad Penney and Jermaine Effedi), doesn’t mean the trend will continue. Truly, we are the “winners” of this business
